Cookies & Storage

What this page covers
Term Tracker uses minimal browser storage. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. We do not display a cookie consent banner because we do not use any non-essential storage that would require consent under GDPR/ePrivacy.
What we use on the app (trmtrk.com)
| Storage | Purpose | Type | Cleared |
|---|---|---|---|
localStorage -- Cognito auth tokens | Keep you signed in between sessions | Strictly necessary | On logout or when you clear site data |
localStorage -- display preferences | Remember small UI choices like your preferred date format | Functional (no consent required because no personal data leaves the browser) | When you clear site data |
No cookies are set by the app. No analytics, tracking, advertising, or session correlation data is collected through the app.
What we use on the docs site (docs.trmtrk.com)
The docs site uses GoatCounter for privacy-respecting analytics. GoatCounter counts page views without setting cookies and without identifying individual users. It does not track you across sites. See Sub-processors for the GoatCounter row in our sub-processor list.
No third-party tracking
The following are not present on any Term Tracker property:
- Google Analytics
- Facebook Pixel
- Hotjar or other session recorders
- Advertising tags of any kind
- Cross-site tracking scripts
Why no consent banner?
GDPR and ePrivacy Directive require consent only for non-essential cookies and storage (analytics, advertising, tracking). The app uses only strictly necessary localStorage entries for authentication and preferences. Strictly necessary storage is exempt from consent requirements. A consent banner on our app would misrepresent what we actually store.
If we ever add non-essential storage (for example, optional analytics or A/B testing), we will add a consent mechanism at that time.
How to clear stored data
The simplest path: sign out of Term Tracker (this clears Cognito auth tokens) and then use your browser's site data settings to clear any remaining localStorage entries.
