Deleting Your Account
You can delete your Term Tracker account at any time from your account page. Deletion is self-service and takes effect after a 30-day grace period, giving you time to change your mind.
What gets deleted
When your account is hard-deleted at the end of the grace window, Term Tracker removes:
- Your account record, name, and email address
- Your profile photo
- Any projects where you are the sole owner and sole member, including all contracts, extracted terms, exports, and analysis jobs in those projects
- The corresponding contract files and extracted-text files stored in our systems
- Your Cognito login credential
Records where you contributed to someone else's project (uploaded a contract, validated a term, created an export) retain the data but clear the attribution field. The contract and its data remain with the project.
The 30-day grace period
After you request deletion, your account enters a grace period. Your data is not removed yet. You can still log in, view your data, and cancel the deletion at any time during those 30 days.
On the day your grace period ends, a scheduled process hard-deletes your account. We send a confirmation email to your address once the deletion has run. Once that runs, the deletion cannot be undone.
How to cancel
If you change your mind during the grace period, a yellow banner appears at the top of every page with a "Cancel deletion" button. Click it to restore your account immediately. No data is lost.
You can also visit your account page directly and cancel from there while the banner is visible.
Shared projects and ownership
You can only delete your account if you do not own any project that has other members. If you do, the deletion request returns an error listing the affected projects.
To proceed, transfer ownership of each listed project to another member in Project Settings, or remove all other members before requesting deletion. Editor and viewer roles on shared projects do not block deletion -- those memberships are removed automatically when your account is deleted, and the project continues under its owner.
